KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: A new chapter in Malaysia’s dining scene is about to unfold, and it will exist for just 90 nights.
From 1 April to 2 August 2026, 90D emerges as a limited-run dinner party unlike anything the city has seen. Set high above Kuala Lumpur on Level 50 at Conlay by E&O, the experience reimagines dining as a fully choreographed encounter where taste, light, and sound are composed to move in unison.
Conceived as Malaysia’s first taste, light, and sound pairing dinner party, 90D departs from the conventions of restaurant service. Here, each course is not simply served but orchestrated. Illumination and sound are treated as deliberate pairings, evolving in step with the menu to create a seamless, immersive narrative across the evening.
The setting itself is integral to the experience. A raw, elevated space has been transformed into a dining stage suspended above the city skyline. At its centre stands “Big Bang,” a monumental light sculpture that anchors the room and quietly conducts the night’s progression. As guests move through each course, the environment responds in kind. Light shifts in intensity and colour, sound rises and recedes, and the entire room takes on a living, breathing quality. The effect is subtle yet powerful, guiding the tempo and emotional arc of the evening with precision.
This is not dining in the traditional sense. It is an intentionally composed dinner party, designed to be experienced as much through sensation and atmosphere as through flavour.
The creative force behind 90D brings together a remarkable assembly of Malaysian and international talent. The project is co-created by Kent Chua and William Lee and presented by RCX Group, a regional lifestyle collective known for building distinctive, experience-led concepts with strong identity and atmosphere. At the culinary helm is Chef Tor Aik “Toraik” Chua, a Le Cordon Bleu Malaysia alumnus who left a path in law to pursue the kitchen.
His journey took him to Noma in Copenhagen, widely regarded as one of the world’s leading restaurants, where he spent three formative years refining his approach to fermentation and seasonal sourcing. He later went on to serve as Executive Chef of the three-Michelin-starred Zén Singapore. At 90D, he brings that same discipline and clarity of vision to a format that unfolds only once, crafting each course with intention so that it aligns seamlessly with the shifting interplay of light and sound.
Complementing this culinary direction is the work of Jun Ong, an internationally acclaimed light artist and architect whose installations have explored the transformative power of artificial light in shaping spatial experience. His large-scale works, including “Star” in Penang and “Polaris” at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center in Athens, have earned global recognition.
At 90D, he treats light not as decoration but as a medium of expression, carefully cueing emotion, movement, and focus throughout the evening. The result is a space that feels both expansive and intimate, constantly evolving yet meticulously controlled.
At its core, 90D is guided by a philosophy of impermanence. It is conceived as a singular run, staged across 90 nights and never to be repeated. This finite nature is central to its meaning. As Kent Chua explains, the project began with a belief that world-class Malaysian talent deserves a platform at home. Designed as a cosmic symphony of light, sound, and taste, it serves as a reminder of both the beauty of shared experiences and the fleeting nature of time itself.
90D runs from Wednesday to Sunday, from 6:30pm to midnight, with limited seating available each night. Reservations are now open via thisis90d.com
For those seeking more than a meal, 90D offers something rare. It is an invitation to step into a moment that is carefully composed, deeply immersive, and ultimately unrepeatable, where every element is aligned to create an experience that lingers long after the night has ended.
