MAIDUGURI, BORNO STATE--Many residential houses were burnt, children and women were still missing as the Nigerian Army repelled Boko Haram Terrorist’s attempts to infiltrate the city of Maiduguri in Borno state, Northeast Nigerian on Tuesday.

                              
The attackers were said to have stated to have fired sporadic gunshorts, throwing powerful explosive ordinance on the residential houses around Polo High Court Juddumri community within the metropolis.         
 
During the attack a huge number of women, children, aged persons were busy trooping to the city centre for safety.
 
A source told our correspondent that many residential houses were completely burnt down. 
 
However, it's very difficult to ascertain the number of casualties both on the side of the security operatives, civilians or even the attackers but a lot of pictures of persons killed suspected to be members of Boko Haram gunmen seen trending on social media a few minutes after the military took control of the area.        
                    
A few minutes after the attack was launched a massive military deployment was seen rushing to the scene with sophisticated weapons and other armaments. The military also brought up ambulances to aid the wounded.
                      
Our correspondent tried to reach out to the spokesman for operation Hadin Kai Col Ado Isa, but he had not responded and up to the time of filing this report.                                                                          
The Polo Juddumri area has become a centre for incursion for the Boko Haram insurgents over recent years.
